How we got here
My journey to web development wasn't exactly traditional. I started coding at 12, building a Geocities website with HTML, but life took me in a different direction first.
After studying Finance and Accounting at the University of Virginia, I spent years in corporate roles—investment banking at Citigroup, corporate strategy at Disney. The work was prestigious, but I was burned out. Something was missing.
I decided to bet on myself. I taught myself web development through online courses, built my first WordPress site for a friend's wedding, and started taking on freelance projects. What began as a side hustle quickly grew into something more—a way to combine technical problem-solving with creative expression.
In 2013, I launched Anne Schmidt Co. full-time. It's been over 10 years now, and despite the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, I wouldn't change a thing. I created this studio because too many talented businesses were settling for cookie-cutter websites that didn't reflect their unique value. I wanted to build a different kind of agency—one where quality comes first, where projects aren't rushed through an assembly line, and where clients work directly with the person building their vision.

I'm a certified WordPress expert and Shopify Partner with over 10 years of experience building custom websites for businesses ready to stand out. My background is unconventional—I studied Finance at UVA and worked in corporate roles at Citigroup and Disney before finding my way back to web development.
I've served hundreds of clients and learned what truly makes a website successful: thoughtful design, clean code, and a deep understanding of business goals. Every project gets my personal attention because I believe your website should be as unique as your brand.
Based in Austin, TX, I live with my husband, two kids, and our two dogs. When I'm not coding, you'll find me on my Peloton, reading, or indulging in reality TV.
